This week I have started to experiment with printing foils onto my leather samples. I haven’t managed to achieve the effect that I wanted although I have managed to achieve something more organic. I began by painting on foil adhesive by hand, once dry I tried to heat press the foils onto the leather. The leather sample from bags of love didn’t work very well at all. this week I have been researching look book photoshoots and trying to get together ideas and a concept for my look book. Rianna Philips and Benedetta Bruzziches have been a big inspiration, I really like the looks that they create through using textured materials and props in their photoshoots. I have been to paper chase and bought a range of materials to work with in the shoot. I have begun a test shoot to look at how I can use the materials together. I am happy with the way
I realised that my visualisations for my product designs are quite important and that I haven’t been happy with them in the past, over this unit I wanted to start early to create something that I can be proud of for my portfolio. I want to begin to combine processes such as watercolour, fineliner and collage to create something interesting that will work well with my designs and compliment them. I want these to reflect the sort of consumer that I expect to buy my designs too.
I have spent a lot of time researching brands and designers that create similar products to what I want to achieve, looking at designers that are the same market level to what I would like to achieve in the future. I have started to look into designers and look books for inspiration so that I can start thinking about how I will style my photoshoots.
