In February I attended London fashion week to do some street photography, I gathered imagery of what people were wearing and noticed that there were a lot of big motifs, metallic leather and fur. After looking at WGSN I found that the trend for S/S 17/18 is reflective sheen and metallic. I think that I could use this to my advantage when creating a look book for my collections.
This week I have been to the sea life centre and blue planet to gather photographs to begin drawing from. I realised from my last project that I have enjoyed drawing creatures that can be mixed with other elements within my print designs.
I want to introduce architecture into my designs as from the previous kidner project I liked working with lines and shapes to create geometric patterns. I have been to spinningfeilds in Manchester to begin photographing modern architecture and compile a collection of imagery to work from.
I realised through these photoshoots that my common interest in the qualities of the imagery is the metallic and iridescent surfaces. I would like to explore this further as I push this project and perhaps start to play around with digital print and screen printing foils.
