MA Practice One - Photography as Art
Since collecting images from my last two photoshoots, I decided to go back to a digital collage method of creating imagery. I discovered that I enjoyed creating images this way on my BA course. Up until now I have been focusing on photography as documentation, creating a catalogue of textures and structures.
I have started to layer up my photographs to create mash-ups of colour, texture and structures. By exaggerating the levels of my more structured photographs and removing elements of block colour, I have been able to replace these shapes and fill them with the textures I have come across.
The combined layers create an appealing, enticing, almost optical illusion. The harsh black and white foreground shapes create a frame or window into a background which suggests depth. To create this effect I have used multiply and pin light layer filters.
